I am so excited to finally share some good news in what has been a Pretty Terrible Year. My debut novel, SINGLE BALD FEMALE, will be published in Spring 2022!
As many of you will know, I started writing this book more than five years ago and it’s been an absolute labour of love, so I can’t tell you how pleased I am to finally put it out in the world.
Here’s the provisional blurb:
Single Bald Female tells the story of Jess, a 31-year-old magazine editor who has it all – the career she’s worked so hard for, the loving boyfriend and a cosy London flat they share with their cat. But a shock diagnosis turns Jess’s world upside down, and her contented life implodes with it.
As Jess juggles her career with chemo, and learns that her perfect boyfriend isn’t quite so perfect after all, her friends’ lives continue to follow the script – the ‘I said yes’ Facebook announcements, the big white weddings and the baby scans. Worrying that she’ll be left behind, she turns to online dating as she figures out what the future holds.
In the midst of it all, she meets Annabel, an enigmatic, enchanting 27 year old, with incurable cancer. But while Annabel may be nearing the end of her life, she understands much more about living than anyone Jess has ever met. And Annabel is determined to show Jess how to make every day count . . .
Frank, funny and poignant, Single Bald Female is a completely unforgettable story of love and friendship.
For those of you who have been following this blog since 2012, I want to say a huge thank you for inspiring me to write the book, and for making me believe it was worth writing. The feedback and support I have received here over the last nine (!) years has been invaluable. Believe me when I say that it has helped power me through countless times when I’ve felt like giving up. The fact that the novel will be published in the 10th anniversary year of my diagnosis makes it even more poignant.
Single Bald Female will be published in Spring 2022 with Pan Macmillan in the UK and Harper Collins in Germany. It is currently available to pre-order on Amazon in the UK and will be available in all good bookshops this time next year. I would very much encourage you to buy it in your local bookshop if you can, because they need all the support they can get right now. I will keep you posted on when it’s available both here and in other countries, and rest assured I’m working on getting the Spanish and Portuguese translations!
In the meantime, please do follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook (links below) for more news and updates!
Sending a HUGE thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout this epic adventure. I absolutely cannot wait to share the book with you.
